Why the hell would you want to use a gesture to rotate the canvas so minimally instead of just pinching the canvas?
This was by far the greatest review i saw on the new iPad you cleared up so many missunderstandings for that even the biggest channels werent discussing thanks
Is the ipad air 13inch colour accurate for t shirt design?
@@SketchPaint Yea it is. Has the P3 wide color gamut so you’d be good with it.
seriously who watches Netflix anymore?
Can’t wait to see how the snapdragon X Elite ends up being for artists. The cool and quiet nature combined with the good battery life and off cable performance sounds awesome
We shall see soon!
@@CladioJulianoArt subbed and belled!
Curious on the size choice. I’ve been using the first gen 12.9” pro. And it’s time to upgrade due to the battery on its way out. It’s not bad to hold for a while on the couch. Is it the portable factor in 1 hand? Also I have my reservations on the oled for long periods of time in Procreate. Might be ok if I use it without the menus when drawing and focus more on the pinch features. Any advice is welcome. Great video
Well this year they have reduced the weight of both models, and combined with the thinness factor they feel great in hand. The new 13” vs 12.9 is a big difference. The 11” size is something I love to work on for the ultra portability and the extra light factor. As far as which size to go for it’s always been a hard question to answer because everyone is different. The OLED you wouldn’t have to worry about in terms of burn in. Modern OLEDS don’t really have this problem, and with this panel especially you wouldn’t have to worry about it.
Artstudio’s gesture control and customization is so good, I feel like I don’t even need the squeeze function. I still want to upgrade though!
Hi Cladio, Great Review, I have a question, I am game ui ux designer plus sometimes I use aftereffects for some small rendering, not much heavy editing, so surface pro 9 i5 is fine for that, mostly I work on Photoshop and figma. Just looking for budget machine thats why asking about i5 only. Thanks
Thanks my friend. Well when it comes to after effects it is a software that runs better with a dedicated GPU all around, but for small stuff you may be able to get by. For your other work in PS & FIgma you’d be fine. If you have the budget you might want to check out the new Surface Pro Co Pilot + machines for they are going to be very good systems with great power and long battery life.
It didn't export when you went to a different app. You can see Lumafusion pausing and waiting for you to come back to the app.
No, it does not pause! It exports in the background. It was a large/longer 4K 60 10 bit export which is why it probably looked like that. I can assure you it doesn’t pause.
Great review
Thanks man
really appreciate hearing your take as someone with so much experience - i get really frustrated that you cant do basic things like idk torrent, or route the f audio on ipad, but as a drawing machine - nothing else even comes close 🚫🧢 esp. with the new screens - its such a dramatic improvement in brightness and color/contrast and way way better with motion / refresh rate / response times. plus ipad os is slick af with safari and the trackpad! thanks for making this video bro - hope some of the so called "big channels" get a look at it and see what life is really like in down in the art trenches ⚡⚡
I’m also a musician, and do a lot of audio stuff along with the stuff for the channel. You can route audio w/iPad Pro
@@CladioJulianoArt i hope you do a segment on audio bc ik you can do pro level routing internally, but i just want my input and sound effects to be on the ipad but my actual songs or / video audio output to come out of a bluetooth speaker. mostly just to avoid the dreaded ear splitting voice search confirmation chime on youtube fml
I’m an artist too, and also have the 11” iPad Pro. I prefer the 11” size for hold-ability. It feels more like a true tablet. I’m using the 2018 iPad Pro which is still going strong, but may finally be tempted to upgrade for the OLED screen & Apple Pencil Pro. I totally agree about the nano texture screen. I’d get the M4 iPad Pro without it. Much rather have the vibrant color & true blacks of the OLED screen over glare reduction. Plus putting a textured screen protector for a paperlike feel over the nano screen would just make the colors even duller.
What specs did you go with for your pro?
Base
As an artist, do you think 11” iPad Pro is enough for you? For me it’s hard to choose one, 11 or 13?
Have been using the 11” for many years. Since the first 11. It’s what I prefer, but everyone is different so it’s hard to say. I would say if you do a lot of landscapes or background work you might want the 13”.
@@CladioJulianoArt I had the 10.5 iPad Pro, now my wife uses it for her studies. I mainly use it to make manga illustrations and sometimes with the split screen using references I felt that it was very tight but I could still develop my ideas. I don't know if it compensates to spend extra money for a bigger screen.
Damn, I ordered mine with the Nano and wish I hadn’t. Great review, thank you!
I wouldn’t be disheartened. I checked it out in person after the review was filmed , and I was blown away by how good it looked. When I first used it I didn’t even realize it was the nano. Plus you are going to get like no glare at all. If you don’t dig swap it out for regular glass within your 14 days.
@@CladioJulianoArtthank you I feel better!
Those extra positions for laying the iPad are ingenious. Particularly the one where you laid it between the space-bar and trackpad. Literally the perfect position for me.
Should note though that with the newest one for the new M4 iPad Pro the inside is metal so this probably wont work well for the new with the metal on top of metal. Just something to note.
@@CladioJulianoArt that’s what I’m using. It actually works great! Thanks for the heads up though.
@@stubbornweeb2190 Oh good!

Great review of iPad M4, one of the best on youtube!
Great info & demos….I think you could do with an extra 2 inches….speaking of size…your “toastie man” has a very small jock strap …..hom emabrasment ….
100% agree with your thoughts at the end there. I have a professional workflow (mostly Lightroom) on the IPad that works completely different than my MBP, AND I LIKE IT THAT WAY. I don’t want my IPad to be a MBP. And all these people crying about “just watching UA-cam” on it…that’s what a regular IPad or tablet is for. Stop considering “pro” products to do regular stuff on, smh.
I agree that iPad and Mac are two complimentary devices. However, given the price of iPad Pro, users should be able to use it as their main computing device if they choose to do so. Some of the concerns about the efficiency of iPad Pro are well founded, as someone who extensively used both!
Some people do use it as their primary device and don’t use a Mac at all.
Im not buying the experience and use case argument anymore. Give us cli, Xcode and robust file management. That wouldn’t negatively impact the iPad experience at all, but it would greatly improve the experiences of professional developers.
That and some proper way to background tasks.
As someone who helps make software for the platform I agree, and I think one day it will, but if you strictly code the iPad Pro doesn’t make sense for you right now.
Wouldn’t that be better on a laptop? Why would you want a tablet for this stuff?
Buy a MacBook Pro wtf stop complaining about things you can control
@@sloppynyuszi the iPad is a laptop … don’t let them tell you otherwise. I’ll be getting the surface pro 11 with 5g and I’ll check back on the iPad again in a few years.

I hear you on that
Thank you so much for this excellent video. So pleased to have been able to subscribe to your channel.
Thank you appreciate it!
Love the way you explained this. Thank you!
Thanks!
Is the Apple Pencil pro better than surface pen 2? Im really doubting about getting iPad og the new surface with the elite chip
Honestly the Slim Pen 2 is good, it’s not bad. The Pencil is better in my opinion because it has the better pressure curve/intake, better tilt, now has rotation, and it feels like utensil when you use it.
@@CladioJulianoArt thank you! Do you thank the new surface is less capeable?
@@klungnesberg What kind of work do you plan on doing?

@@klungnesberg I think you’d be really happy with iPad Pro.
11” 20g less doesn’t make difference whatsoever. So this only applies to 13” which is still bit too heavy and big to use comfortably in your hand
I’m talking about the 13” there more so for the weight and the 11” about thinness, but you still can feel the weight difference in the 11”. It’s small on paper, but when you go back and forth with the two you can feel the difference 100%
@@CladioJulianoArt seriously I can’t tell with other people’s hands, I would’ve sworn you had 11” in your hands.
@@whitecrowuk575 I did have an 11 in hand, but I was kind of speaking generally about both.
How are the speakers? I heard they weren’t as good as the M2 model
I found the speakers to be better. More bass and they sounded much clearer. I directly compared them.
4 videos in 2 years... I am not going to subscribe to this channel. Even if I like this video sorry.
It’s called living life, getting married, moving, building a new studio, running a multi location business of 16 years, working on customer projects, etc. I’m also not someone that’s going to make a video just to make a video. I like making impactful content vs making content to just make content..
Bro he made shit for the movie Joker. Go touch grass and stop bitching. Cladio is the only artist UA-camr I trust.
Bravo…. Yes you could have stoked page views and expanded your subscriber base by claiming the iPad absolutely NEEDS Mac OS!!!!
1:50 weight difference between 11" M2 Pro and 11" M4 Pro is 22/24 grams (wi-fi/wi-fi+cellular version). I have a hard time believing that you can feel that difference in your hands.
UA-camrs say all kinds of crap! I have both models and NO you CANNOT "really tell the difference in weight" between the two. If you look really really hard, you can barely tell the difference in thickness/thinness between the two. The iPad is great, but COM' ON MAN!
@@neostephens8980 Exactly what I thought! I can understand for 13" version but for 11" it looks marginal on paper. Do you have Magic Keyboard for both too?
@@noisetin I only have the 11 inch version. Maybe there is a bigger difference with the 13 inch version.
@@neostephens8980 Meant MK for both 11" inch versions, sorry, should have been more precise.
@@noisetin As of last week, I had the iPad 10.9 inch version and MK. Sold that to my daughter after I got the 11 inch pro and MK. Gonna be sending the MK back to Apple since I got the Logitech Combo Keyboard and cover.
A real reviewer speaking their opinion for once. Every other reviewer is just reading the tech sheet.
Right?! I've been quite annoyed with how some of the reviewers repeat back what was mentioned in the apple event. And they don't truly test out the devices. I would just roll my eyes when they mention that the M4 isn't worth it because of ipad Os. Most of them say the exact same thing. It's refreshing to see reviews like this one.
Yes, now people are getting it. This world is a stage. Keep digging
Agreed! An excellent review.
you can only earn money if you obey to the companies... otherwise you have to buy those products by yourself
Nice review! I bought a 13’’ 1TB version of the new iPad Pro along with the Magic Keyboard but unfortunately I can’t convince myself to keep the keyboard case. It just is so heavy when combined with the iPad and it kills portability especially if I want to bring along my laptop as well. As a full time artist having to remove the iPad from the case and put it bare on a table to draw just doesn’t sit well with me for longevity reasons - I just see it getting scratched quickly. Not to mention the MK is overpriced despite the great build quality.. I decided to return the MK and get the standard folio case and Bluetooth keyboard instead.
Hope you enjoy!
Excellent review. Realistic evaluation from an actual iPad USER, not another UA-camr looking for a MacBook replacement. It’s been very unpleasant watching so called “professionals” trashing a the iPad simply because it’s focused on a different type of creator.
Have you tried exporting from Final Cut Pro? Won’t work, and that is supposed to be the “pro” program. Or try to install 3rd party typefaces. While possible it’s cumbersome. I love my new M4 iPad, but iPadOS is still lacking pro features imho.
I use Luma Fusion so I haven’t, but have you tried exporting while stage manager is activated? Stage manager needs to be on to do this. 3rd party typefaces kind of depends on how it’s implemented. For some apps you can just bulk import all your fonts through the native hard drive, but things like AnyFont and other apps are ok. It does need more work in some areas, why I said it in the video too.
@@CladioJulianoArt I just tested FCP in stage manager and it does work. But ONLY if you never leave the workspace with FCP in it and never switches an app to full screen, so basically you are handicapped and forced to only work in small windows while exporting. So not ideal, but thank you for the tip 👍
@@SchaufussTV In my example I am going in and out of full screen and multi window. I’ll have to check it out with Final Cut.
@@CladioJulianoArt maybe it works with some apps? Just tried with mail and going full screen stops the export.
@@SchaufussTV i will have to check it out I could have sworn I popped into full screen, but you can stretch the app to take up the majority of the screen. I agree though, multitasking needs more work for sure. I think they will iron that out soon.
Beautiful
GREAT VIDEO! How much storage did you get? 256gb? 512gb? 1 TB?
I use 256 and always have, but it depends as well. As you can imagine I have a lot of files when it comes to what I do as an artist/designer, and I do a lot of video too. I am super OCD with file management so I know how to make that work well, and I also have 2TB of cloud storage, and you have external storage options as well. I would say if you travel a lot and plan to download a lot of movies for watching larger storage would be beneficial. I mean larger storage is nice of course, but I have managed to never fill my internal storage up with 256 and my 2TB of cloud storage.
@@CladioJulianoArt Thank you!!
What about the subscription model of software that won't provide much productivity and options like macos
Like what exactly? Much of the software today including cross platform software for both the iPad, Mac, and Windows are subscription based, and some let you buy the software outright like we do in Artstudio Pro. Procreate is a flat rate, and others use this same model too. What wouldn’t provide much productivity?
@@CladioJulianoArtI love the fact that Artstudio isn’t subscription. I’m happy to pay for big updates, but as someone who switches apps a lot I really appreciate this.
Let’s see that finished Powdered Toast Man!
I agree, I’d HATE to see MacOS on iPads. Yes I want to see some improvements to Files App, Stage Management and more external features. What I would like to see is Apple partnering up with Value Steam. Bringing something like that over in say an application with some type of translation software so we can play MacOS games on the iPad would be fantastic. It would also show other platforms/ developers that it’s viable. I’d love to see even if it’s only on Pros or M chips is a some more full professional apps. What comes to my mind is something similar to Rosetta , how MacOS uses that to use Intel programs.
Certainly would be cool
Great review my friend!!. you touched points of the new iPad Pro that most of the large channels haven't touched. amazing job !

11 inch is really the perfect size for me. It’s nice to see more artists use the 11 instead of the 13. My procreate experience is the same, and I can still get work done in such as comfortable size. Great review.
I love the 11!
I think I’m going for 11 this time too. Perfect size to take everywhere and between mini and 13. Mini felt too small and 12.9/13 too large.

Thank you!
I’m just a hobbyist but the quality of your reviews can’t be missed lol. Looking to improve my art seriously soon and maybe actually use Art studio pro in the future. Right now I just illustrate with basic lines but feel like I would need to learn to “paint” to really take advantage of that app. Painting feels like I need another brain to comprehend colors and blending etc though lol.
Thanks man! Artstudio Pro is actually awesome for line and ink work too, so you don’t have to be a painter to get a great drawing/sketching/inking experience in it. Definitely worth checking out sometime!
I had the 13”M4 but I took it back because it was just too big and I went with the 11 inch M4
